COLUMBUS, OH - Smiling faces were seen around the house on Friday afternoon when a group of Ohio State Football players visited Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.
On Friday, nine Team Cohesion student-athletes toured the house across the street from Nationwide Children’s Hospital then delivered signed Valentine’s Day cards and decorated heart-shaped cookies with patients and families who are staying at the house.
"I never knew too much about the Ronald McDonald House and going on the tour was eye-opening to see how many different people in the community have reached out and chipped in to do something in the house. It is really awesome to see," said Kyle McCord, Ohio State Quarterback.
“It means the world to our families at the Ronald McDonald House to have such loving support from our community. And we’re always especially excited to receive special attention from athletes at The Ohio State University," said Dee Anders, RMHC of Central Ohio CEO and Executive Director. "These Valentine’s Day cards from incoming football players will brighten the spirits of our guests and really help them move the ball down the field in their healthcare journey.”
Cohesion Foundation student-athletes have partnered with RMHC Ohio to help the organization raise awareness and funds to continue their mission to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.
Open 365 days a year, the Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill children receiving treatment in the hospital. The House offers comfortable bedrooms with private baths, continuing care suites for recovering transplant patients, fully equipped kitchens and dining areas, play rooms, laundry facilities, a meditation room, exercise room and informal gathering areas.
Team Cohesion student-athletes in attendance included Kyle McCord, Josh Padilla, Malik Hartford, Miles Walker, Jelani Thurman, Vic Culter, Luke Montgomery, Austin Siereveld, and Ja'Had Carter.
The Cohesion Foundation works to unite Ohio State student-athletes with Central Ohio charities to use their NIL for good. The organization believes it is important to help teach financial stewardship and community responsibility as college athletes navigate NIL benefits. Area non-profits appreciate the celebrity-like support.
